York County's Junior Miss

 


          

Congratulations to Ashley as she was named Pennsylvania's Junior Miss  in Johnstown on Saturday, August 9, 2009.  Ashley competed for the title along with other contestants from around the state in the 52nd annual program. 

In addition to the title of Pennsylvania's Junior Miss, Ashley  won the Scholarship and Interview awards Saturday evening.

Ashley will represent Pennsylvania in America's Junior Miss Program in June, 2010 in Mobile, Alabama.

Ashley Gochoco is a 17 year old senior who attends York Country Day School in York, Pennsylvania.  She has been studying the violin for 7 years under the instruction of Professor Vernon H. Stinebaugh.  Ashley is currently a member of the York Youth Symphony Orchestra, and was previously a member of the York Junior Symphony Orchestra.

Ashley is actively involved in her school community, having served on Student Council, and is a leader on the varsity tennis team and in the school plays.  Her favorite roles on stage have been the fiddler in "Fiddler on the Roof," Chris in "Rumors," and Jean in "Life of the Party."  Additionally, Ashley has been involved in the York community as a volunteer at York Hospital and as a Rotary Club performer and Student of the Month. 

Ashley is a member of the National Honor Society and consistently holds a place on the Headmaster's List.  Ashley plans to attend Swarthmore College and aspires to become a doctor. In May, Asley was fortunate enough to be named York County's Junior Miss, winning $13,700 in scholarship money from the program.

Ashley is very honored to have been chosen as York County's Junior Miss and proud that she is the first York County Junior Miss from her high school, York Country Day School.
